Muting your microphone during periods of silence or when you're not actively participating in a conference call is not only a matter of proper conference call etiquette but also helps to maintain call clarity and professionalism.

Muting a conference call on an iPhone is relatively straightforward, and you can do it during a call or before joining one. Here are the steps:

How to Mute Conference Call on iPhone

Muting During a Conference Call:

Open the Phone App: Go to your iPhone's home screen and tap the "Phone" app.

Join the Conference Call:

Initiate or join the conference call as you normally would by dialing the number or answering an incoming call.

Locate the Mute Button:

During the conference call, you'll see the call interface with various options. Look for the "Mute" button. This button typically looks like a microphone icon and is usually at the bottom center of the screen when you're on a call.

Tap the Mute Button:

Tap the "Mute" button to mute your microphone. When muted, the microphone icon may turn red or display a slash across it, indicating that you are now muted.

Unmute When Needed:

If you need to speak again, tap the "Mute" button again to unmute your microphone. Your voice will be heard by others on the call.

Muting Before Joining a Conference Call:

If you want to set up your call to be muted by default when you join a conference call, follow these steps:

1. Open the Phone App: Go to your iPhone's home screen and tap the "Phone" app.

2. Go to Settings: In the Phone app, tap the "Settings" button in the bottom right corner.

3. Scroll Down and Toggle on "Always Mute My Microphone": In the Phone settings, scroll down until you find the "Always Mute My Microphone" option. Toggle it on.

When this option is enabled, your microphone will be muted by default when you join a call. You can still unmute it during the call if needed.

These steps should help you mute and unmute yourself during a conference call on your iPhone.

Keep in mind that the appearance and location of buttons may vary slightly depending on your iPhone model and the version of iOS or iPadOS you're using.
